Areas where illegal dumping occurs endanger the public by exposing them to toxins that enter the soil, air, and water sources. Also, illegal dumping sites quickly become a breeding ground for disease carrying creatures. Exposing the nearby community to diseases such as encephalitis, hantavirus pulmonary syndrome and West Nile Virus.
Most cities have implemented fines to combat the dumping problem. Some examples of fines can be found on the Federal Department of Environmental Protection Website. Subsequent convictions can be as much as six years imprisonment and/or $100,000 per day fine.
For a city to be able to win the battle of illegal dumping, the fines need to be stiff, and the evidence obtained must be able to stand up in court.
A successful Illegal Dumping Enforcement Program must have Illegal Dumping Enforcement Cameras that capture images and license plates to provide clear evidence.
These Illegal Dumping Enforcement Cameras must be:
- Vandal Resistant.
- Able to capture evidence in remote areas where no electricity or internet connection is available.
- Able to Provide Tamper Resistant Images.
- Able to Capture Images like a tattoo on an arm and license plate numbers in complete darkness.
