Cincinnati Police will put up fifteen solar powered cameras this weekend to help catch and deter criminals.
"It's a great crime prevention tool," says Sgt. Eric Franz.
The cameras are actually designed to detect someone stopping or lingering in it's field of view.
"First thing it does is flash a picture," continued Franz.
That's when the camera's second function kicks in.
"The people look up at the camera they hear the verbal command and then it takes another picture of them usually they're staring right into the camera for that second picture."
"Just the presence of the cameras I'm sure is enough to do a lot of good things," said Bill Haass of Yester Years furniture.
"You can't be safe enough. I don't care where you are Price Hill, anywhere," finished Haass.
The cameras will be installed over the course of the next couple of days. Each police district will get three to put wherever they see fit.
