Cincinnati, OH Police Department Vandalism, Thefts, and Drug Deals thwarted

The City of Cincinnati, OH has twenty solar-charged digital FlashCAMs deployed by the police department at various trouble spot locations around the city. Sgt. Steve Saunders, Cincinnati Police Dept. said, “One trouble spot is a car dealership that was repeatedly the victim of theft and vandalism. Tires and radios were being stolen from cars on the lot and vandals were taking a knife to rag tops.” Sgt. Saunders decided to place a FlashCAM overlooking a large area of the lot. Problem solved! After a month in service the car dealer reports that no thefts or vandalism have occurred. The business owner’s son praised the police department, saying, “We just cannot thank you enough. You’re doing a great job! So how much longer can you leave the FlashCAM here?”
Sgt. Saunders is also using FlashCAM's to disrupt the economy of drug trafficking areas. “The cameras take pictures of not only the drug sellers, but also the buyers.” These are just two examples of how a Police Dept. can use FlashCAMs to solve problems and truly “protect and serve” members of its community.

Stopping Thefts and Break-ins in parks
The Mecklenburg County, NC Parks Services Division is responsible for 217 parks in the county. They were having problems with break-ins at the parks administration building where thieves stole computers and other expensive equipment. A FlashCAM was installed at this location; the vandalism and break-ins stopped. One of the more interesting pictures from the FlashCAM showed a guy, sledgehammer in hand, approaching the building at 3:30 a.m. (the park closes at dusk). The FlashCAM’s bright flash and voice warning scared him off and no damage was done. The system has been moved to a different trouble spot within this vast park system.

Theft and Vandalism stopped at large construction site

FlashCAM systems deter vandalism and theft at a San Antonio, TX construction site of a 2.5 million-gallon elevated storage tank. One camera is mounted just above a large doorway into the structure’s concrete pedestal, and covers the main pedestrian approach to the site. This is where the contractor’s job trailer is parked and where the crane usually is parked. Another FlashCAM is mounted inside the pedestal, where construction tools are being stored and--even more importantly--where an intruder could gain access to the tower’s ladder, which is at least 100 feet in height.
Photos from the system indicate that trespassers—perhaps nosy hikers, perhaps would-be thieves enter the construction site on a hilltop in an uninhabited area of a subdivision just outside of San Antonio. None have actually vandalized or stolen anything. FlashCAM photos clearly show trespassers leaving the area, presumably after hearing the loud voice warning. “In our experience the FlashCAM systems are a cost effective solution.”
Martin Kufus, Security Manager at Bexar Metropolitan Water District uses the FlashCAM as RoboCops "The camera chases off the intruder and get some photos that might be useful to the police" He says " Your petty criminals will flee if they suddenly hea
