Stopping Thefts and Break-ins in parks

The Mecklenburg County, NC Parks Services Division is responsible for 217 parks in the county. They were having problems with break-ins at the parks administration building where thieves stole computers and other expensive equipment. A FlashCAM was installed at this location; the vandalism and break-ins stopped. One of the more interesting pictures from the FlashCAM showed a guy, sledgehammer in hand, approaching the building at 3:30 a.m. (the park closes at dusk). The FlashCAM’s bright flash and voice warning scared him off and no damage was done. The system has been moved to a different trouble spot within this vast park system.
